The Proverbs 31 Project - (Purpose)

I began to revisit the Proverbs 31 view of characteristics of a godly woman. In my younger days, I read the passage and was intimidated of the woman in the passage seemed to portray. I wonder how all those things she is said to do was as possible and how on earth did she have time for herself, her interest, hopes, dreams etc. There was so much I did not understand. Years have know gone by from my first introduction to this text. I have experience life. God has used those experiences , Divine connections, church family, and God's Word to mold me into who I am today.

A recent experience, has cause me to revisit this passage. Now, I guess you could say, I'm doing a maintenance check up. Now as a more mature woman, I understand that I can only be whom God has uniquely called me to be. However, Provers 31 is still a great reference yielding principles for us all.

During this maintenance check up of mine, I began to read the passage. It the same passage I have read so many times over the years. Now, it has new meaning to me. First, I truly see myself in the passage. Additionally, I see some areas which led me to inquire of the Lord to help me further develop. The Holy Spirit and I began strategizing , repositioning my life, and current goals. Soon , it became apparent I was lead to this passage because God was preparing an developing something in me. I will have to share specifically what those things are when God gives me permission. One thing I have learned is that somethings are between you and God until the appointed to time to reveal to others.

The second thing that came of me revisiting the Proverbs 31 passage is a heart for other women that may be reading this passage. The passage is intended for instruction, encouragement, and empowerment. However, as I began to read each line of the passage...line upon line.. percept upon percept, I could literally voices of women reading this passage for the first time. It's like the Holy Ghost gave me access to their hearts, more specifically their fears and insecurities. It suddenly became apparent that how we as women view ourselves directly impacts how we see ourselves in the Proverbs 31 passage.

This post is the first of The Proverbs 31 Project inspired by the Holy Spirit designed to take God's precious daughters on a journey of discovery. Trust me, we will be on this journey together. I will blogging here. Soon, we expand this topic to discussions on my coming BlogRadio program. Additionally, I am working on an e-magazine to be launched later this year that will give God's precious daughters freedom to grow and become all He has predestined us to be. You are not alone. And you can become all that He created you to be. Nothing, not any mistakes, can cancel out God's love and assignment for your life. You are capable, intelligent, virtuous in God's eyes! Begin to see yourself as God does!

I love you my #kingdomSisters!

  1. Nikki,

This is so awesome! Yes, I will confess that proverbs 31 can be at times intimidating to me. If I don't feel like I accquire all of these things, does that make me less than a virtuous woman. I am so looking forward to discussion of this topic. May the Holy Spirit use you and have His way. Excited!!!
